M.SC. IN TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION ENGINEERING (MSc TIE) (EE700) - COURSEWORK PROGRAMME

COURSE CONTENT

The program aims to provide a broad-based modern communications and to provide a solid grounding in the theory and techniques suitable for students wishing to pursue a career in telecommunication and information engineering.

The program comprises the following courses:-

CORE COURSES:

ADVANCED COMMUNICATION THEORY:-

This course covers a comprehensive treatment of the theory of communications and to model and analyze conventional as well as spread spectrum and orthogonal frequency digital modulation systems in environments of modern digital communication networks.

DATA COMMUNICATION NETWORKS:-

This course covers a comprehensive implementation and monitoring, and maintaining enterprise networks. Students will learn how to plan, configure, and verify the implementation of complex enterprise network solutions using the standard Architecture. The course also covers the secure integration of various network technologies and services into campus networks. Comprehensive labs emphasize hands-on learning and practice to reinforce configuration skills.

ADVANCED DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING:-

This course presents the concept, techniques and analysis of continuous and discrete signals, filter designs and realization, and sampling theorem. Practical consideration for analogue and digital signal processing will be discussed. Implementation of digital signal processing algorithm, especially for filter design using computer software will be highlighted.

INFORMATION THEORY AND TELETRAFFIC ENGINEERING:-

This course covers a comprehensive treatment of the theory of digital switching, traffic flows in networks and dimensioning of Loss and Delay characteristics in Switching Systems.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION ENGINEERING PROJECT:-

The course consists of a supervised project or research module. Each student works on a selected topic relevant to telecommunication and its industries. The duration is one semester. At the end of the semester, each student will present their project/research findings at the faculty examiner panels, and a report/thesis must be submitted.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

The course consists of a supervised project or research module. Each student works on a selected topic relevant to telecommunication and its industries. The student will also study the entrepreneurial opportunities the project or research might present. The duration is one semester. At the end of the semester, each student will present their project/research findings at the faculty examiner panels, and a report/thesis must be submitted.
